CAPITAL TRAGEDY: Blaze near Palam Metro Station kills seven, including children

A devastating fire incident has shaken the national capital, with at least seven people, including three children, losing their lives near Palam Metro Station. The tragic blaze broke out early in the morning in a densely populated residential-commercial building, triggering panic across the area. According to initial reports, the fire engulfed a multi-storey structure used for both residential and commercial purposes. The basement, ground, and first floors housed garment and cosmetic businesses, while the upper floors were occupied by residents. Thick smoke rapidly filled the building, leaving those inside with little chance to escape. Eyewitnesses reported hearing desperate cries for help as flames spread quickly. In a bid to save themselves, at least two individuals jumped from the building and sustained injuries. Firefighters faced extreme difficulty accessing upper floors due to intense heat and dense smoke. Around 30 fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, while teams from emergency services, including the National Disaster Response Force, joined rescue operations. Several people have been admitted to hospital, while search operations continue amid fears that more victims could be trapped. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire, including whether safety norms were followed. The incident raises serious concerns over fire preparedness in crowded urban zones like Delhi.
