Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ re-censorship delayed again

'Jana Nayagan' re-censorship delayed again; Thalapathy Vijay’s final film faces fresh uncertainty

Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, faces new delays. The re-censorship process has been cancelled again, disappointing fans and the makers. The film’s release is now uncertain. It was initially planned for January 9. The team withdrew their case and resubmitted for a fresh review. The movie is expected to release after the Tamil Nadu elections.

‘Jana Nayagan,’ starring Thalapathy Vijay and directed by H. Vinoth, continues to face hurdles as the re-censoring process remains incomplete. The film, originally slated for release on January 9, ran into issues with the censor board, and the makers initially did not pursue further action. Despite several attempts to resolve the matter and release the film on time, nothing worked in their favor. The team later decided to withdraw the case and resubmit the film for a fresh review, hoping for a smoother process.

Re-censorship screening cancelled

According to Filmibeat, the re-censorship screening has been cancelled once again, disappointing both the makers and fans. The film was earlier scheduled for review on March 9, but it was postponed due to a committee member falling ill. A preview scheduled for March 17 had raised hopes of a resolution to the long-standing issue.

Censor review postponed again

Unfortunately, the promised review has yet to take place and has been rescheduled for today as well. Fans remain disappointed as no clear explanation has been provided for the repeated cancellations. Many took to social media to express their frustration over the unnecessary delays. The repeated postponements have dampened the anticipation and hype surrounding the film, which is still expected to release later this year.

Cast and crew of ‘Jana Nayagan’

‘Jana Nayagan’ holds special significance as it is reportedly Vijay’s final film before he shifts his focus to politics. The film features a star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Prakash Raj, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film now awaits clarity on when the censor process will be completed. Even if ‘Jana Nayagan’ receives censor clearance soon, its theatrical release will likely be postponed due to the Model Code of Conduct. With Vijay entering politics, the film is expected to release only after the Tamil Nadu elections.
