According to Variety, discussions are already underway for a sequel to ‘KPop Demon Hunters.’ Netflix and Sony have reportedly begun talks for the follow-up to the feature, which has become the streaming platform’s most-watched film ever.While there is no official confirmation yet, the news has sparked excitement among fans hoping to see more of the beloved characters. The first film made a huge impact when it premiered on June 20, combining the world of K-pop with thrilling demon-slaying action.

What can fans expect from the sequel? Co-director reveals potential character backstories

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ co-director Maggie Kang, who directed the film alongside Chris Appelhans, had previously spoken about her hopes for a sequel. Kang suggested that future stories could focus on the histories of Rumi’s fellow group members, Zoey and Mira.She told Variety, “We’ve set up so much for potential backstory. Obviously, there’s a lot of questions that are left unanswered and areas that are not explored, and we had to do that because there’s only so much movie you could tell in 85 minutes.” Fans can expect that the sequel might explore deeper layers of each character, revealing what shaped them into both pop stars and demon hunters.

Sing-along version tops US box office

The film’s popularity is not limited to streaming. A sing-along version of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ recently hit big screens in the United States, finishing at No.1 at the box office with an estimated $19.2 million, according to Deadline. This proves that the film has strong appeal both online and in cinemas.

About ‘KPop Demon Hunters’

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ follows Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) – young adult pop stars in a group called Huntr/x. Behind the scenes, they come from an ancient lineage of demon slayers and must balance their lives as successful K-pop artists with their responsibilities as hunters.Their biggest challenge arrives when a powerful enemy, played by Lee Byung-hun, forms an equally popular K-pop boy band with a sinister plan: to steal the souls of their fans. The trio must fight to stop this dark scheme while maintaining their friendship and continuing their music careers.
