Investigators from the Ottawa Police Service are continuing to look into the case and have appealed to members of the public who may have information to come forward.Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident has been asked to contact the West Criminal Investigations Section. In June 2024, Uday Jaswal, an Indian-origin former senior officer, was charged with one count of sexual assault related to an alleged incident that occurred in 2011 in Ottawa. Investigators stated they had reasonable grounds to believe the offence occurred while Jaswal was serving as an inspector with the police service. The allegation involves a woman connected to the police organization at the time. After the charge was laid, Jaswal was arrested and later released on conditions, including a requirement not to communicate with the complainant and to stay at least 100 metres away from her. He was also ordered not to possess firearms or weapons and to surrender any such items in his possession.
