Steven Spielberg’s alien movie cast and story

The project, with Steven Spielberg serving as a producer alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, marks a return to a subject closely tied to his career. The filmmaker is revisiting alien-centered storytelling after directing War of the Worlds in 2005.The script comes from David Koepp, who previously collaborated with Spielberg on War of the Worlds. Koepp wrote the screenplay for Disclosure Day based on an original story by Spielberg. His earlier credits include ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park,’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.’Spielberg has long been associated with stories about extraterrestrial life. Beyond War of the Worlds, his earlier classics Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial explored encounters with alien life from a more hopeful perspective. With Disclosure Day, he appears to revisit that territory through a darker lens, with media panic, possession, and secrecy driving the suspense. The film also marks Spielberg’s first project in the genre since Ready Player One (2018) and follows his 2022 drama The Fabelmans. Disclosure Day will arrive in theaters and IMAX on June 12, 2026.
