Court recalls non-bailable warrant against Farooq after issuing it

SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar Thursday recalled a non-bailable warrant it had issued against National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in the J&K cricket association scam.Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar had earlier issued a non-bailable warrant against Dr Abdullah rejecting his plea for exemption from personal appearance in the case. His advocate, Ishtiyaq Khan, informed court that Dr Abdullah was unable to appear in person as an attempt to assassinate him was made on Wednesday. The court observed the accused could join the proceedings through virtual mode.Dr Abdullah then filed a fresh application stating he was in a state of shock and, therefore, unable to appear. He also stated that several people had been visiting him following the attack. Following the fresh plea, the court recalled the warrant.The CBI had filed a chargesheet in the J&K cricket association scam case. The matter came up before CJM Srinagar for arguments on framing of charges Thursday.
