Middle East Crisis: Bahrain Oil Facility Attack Raises Fears of Wider Middle East Conflict

The ongoing Middle East conflict continues to intensify as new political and military developments emerge. Former diplomat Sushil Singhal stated that the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the Supreme Leader of Iran indicates a stronger grip of hardliners within the Iranian regime. According to him, moderate political figures are gradually losing influence, while the hardline faction supported by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is gaining more control. This shift could lead to a more aggressive Iranian stance in the ongoing conflict involving Israel and the United States. Singhal explained that Iran appears to be strategically targeting infrastructure across the Gulf region, including oil depots, pipelines, refineries, and desalination plants. Analysts believe Tehran is trying to pressure Gulf nations not to fully support Washington in the war. In a major development, an oil facility operated by Bapco Energies in Bahrain was reportedly attacked, with visuals showing flames and smoke rising from the refinery terminal. Similar attacks in the past have targeted facilities linked to Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia, raising concerns about regional security and global oil supply disruptions.
