Iran’s Clerical Body Reaches Majority Consensus On Next Supreme Leader

Iran’s Assembly of Experts, the clerical body responsible for appointing the country’s Supreme Leader, has reached a majority consensus on a successor following the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, member Ayatollah Mohammad-Mahdi Mirbagheri said.

According to Iran’s Mehr news agency, Mirbagheri stated that while agreement has largely been reached, “some obstacles” in the process still need to be resolved.
