Breaking News: US Torpedo Attack Sinks Iranian Warship in Indian Ocean, 80+ Sailors Dead

Tensions in the Middle East conflict have escalated after the U.S. Navy allegedly attacked an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean on 4 March, triggering strong reactions from Iran. The vessel, which had earlier visited India for the International Fleet Review and Milan naval exercise, was reportedly returning from India when it was hit by a torpedo fired from a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine about 75 km south of Sri Lanka’s coast. The attack sank the ship, killing more than 80 Iranian sailors. Following the incident, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a rescue operation, saving several Iranian naval personnel. Iran condemned the strike, stating that the ship was unarmed and visiting India as a guest for an international exercise. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Saeed called the attack “unfortunate” and demanded punishment for those responsible. Defense analysts raised concerns in India, noting that the attack happened close to Indian waters, raising questions about maritime surveillance and security in the region. Meanwhile, the conflict has widened as Hezbollah launched attacks on Israeli military vehicles in northern Israel from Lebanon. In response, Israel targeted Hezbollah positions in Beirut and Iranian-linked military sites. The U.S. is also planning to deploy additional Patriot and THAAD air defense systems in the Middle East and possibly South Korea, fearing further escalation.
