'The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond' box office collection Day 6: Film maintains grip; earns Rs 20 crore net

‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’, which hit theatres over the weekend amid controversy, has managed to maintain its grip over the Indian box office. After registering a boost over the Holi holiday, the film witnessed a slight dip on Wednesday (Day 6), taking its total India net collection to an estimated Rs 20.15 crore.

According to early estimates on trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 3.5 crore on Wednesday – a minor drop of around Rs 50 lakh compared to its festive holiday collections.

The film had a subdued start on Friday amid confusion over a court order initially barring its release, before subsequently permitting it. As a result, it collected approximately Rs 75 lakh on Day 1. However, following confirmation of its theatrical release, collections saw a steady rise, with the film earning an estimated Rs 4.65 crore on Day 2 and Rs 4.75 crore on Day 3.On Monday, the film collected around Rs 2.5 crore, followed by an estimated Rs 4 crore on Tuesday. With Wednesday’s earnings added, the six-day India net total stands at approximately Rs 20.15 crore. The gross domestic collection has crossed the Rs 20 crore mark, reaching an estimated Rs 23.9 crore.

‘The Kerala Story’ vs ‘The Kerala Story 2’

While the sequel continues to perform steadily, its numbers remain significantly lower than those of the 2023 original, ‘The Kerala Story’. In its first six days, the Hindi version of ‘The Kerala Story’ earned Rs 68.64 crore, with an additional Rs 1.51 crore coming from its Telugu-dubbed release. The film eventually went on to record a lifetime India net collection of Rs 241.74 crore. Directed by Vipul Shah, it also earned over Rs 15 crore in international markets, taking its worldwide gross total to Rs 302 crore.
