At 68, veteran actor Sunny Deol is showing no signs of slowing down. This year marks the actor’s finest, with five back-to-back releases, according to the latest reports. Following the stupendous box office success of his last release, ‘Border 2,’ which amassed over Rs. 480 crore globally, the action star has now officially begun filming his next high-octane thriller, ‘Antony.’ Directed by newcomer Balaji Ganesh and produced by Excel Entertainment in collaboration with A.R. Murugadoss, the film features Vijay Varma as the primary antagonist.

Sunny Deol is back for ‘Antony’

As per Variety India, filming for the project kicked off on February 27 in Mumbai and is slated to wrap up by July 2026, targeting a theatrical release in early 2027. The film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani’s Excel Entertainment, in partnership with A.R. Murugadoss’ production banner.

‘Antony’ is touted to be a suspense-packed action thriller, showcasing Deol in a high-octane action avatar. The movie is helmed by newcomer Balaji Ganesh, a Chennai filmmaker who earlier assisted Murugadoss on several major productions.

Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ and ‘Gabru’

Anurag Singh’s ‘Border 2’ starred Sunny Deol and has become 2026’s biggest box-office smash yet. This tale of the 1971 India-Pakistan war raked in more than 327 crore net domestically and almost 450 crore globally over 39 days. Deol’s upcoming project, ‘Gabru’ by Shashank Udapurkar, hits theaters May 8, 2026, delivering him in a deeply moving role full of power, emotion, and authentic storytelling.

Sunny Deol’s upcoming films

Sunny Deol has two additional films lined up for release this year. Rajkumar Santoshi’s action drama ‘Lahore 1947’ arrives in cinemas over the Independence Day weekend, while Nitesh Tiwari’s highly awaited ‘Ramayana Part 1’ drops during Diwali. In the latter, he portrays Lord Hanuman. Go to Source
