The series marks a new chapter for the character by exploring his formative years in a period setting.Inspired by Andrew Lane’s 2010 novel ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’, the story unfolds in the 1870s at Oxford University. Sherlock is portrayed as impulsive and unpolished. He becomes entangled in a murder case and begins investigating to clear his name. This first major mystery sets the stage for his future as a detective.

As the case deepens, Sherlock uncovers a larger conspiracy that shapes his path. The series also introduces his first encounter with James Moriarty, played by Dónal Finn. Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone play Sherlock’s parents.
