New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said its compact SUV Maruti Suzuki Brezza has completed 10 years in the Indian market, maintaining its position as the country’s top-selling compact SUV since its debut in 2016.

The automaker said the Brezza has played a key role in shaping the compact SUV category, which has emerged as one of the largest segments in India’s passenger vehicle industry over the past decade.

According to the company, the model has consistently remained among the top 10 bestselling passenger vehicles in India during this period, reflecting sustained consumer demand in the segment.

“The Brezza story is one that has empowered the SUV era in India,” said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Banerjee said the model was conceptualised and developed keeping evolving customer aspirations in mind, combining SUV styling with technology and comfort features.

“As we reflect on its journey through the decade on its 10th anniversary, it’s worth noting that the Brezza has not just consistently retained its position as India’s most loved SUV; it has also steadily expanded the market share for the entire compact SUV segment to 31 per cent contribution today,” he said.

The company also noted that 56 per cent of customers consider the Brezza as their predetermined choice, highlighting strong brand recall in the segment.

The Brezza has undergone two generational updates since its launch. Over the years, it has evolved with new design elements, enhanced features and updated powertrain technologies in line with changing market expectations.

The model also received several industry recognitions early in its lifecycle, including the Indian Car of the Year award in 2017.

The current-generation Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid technology and is available with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring steering-mounted paddle shifters.
