Vijay Sethupathi and Manikandan’s Tamil web series ‘Kaattaan’, also known as Muthu alias Kaattaan, is gearing up for its OTT premiere. Expectations are high as Manikandan makes a comeback to direction after his 2023 film ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’.’Kaattaan’ is expected to show Vijay Sethupathi in a fierce rural avatar. It marks the third collaboration between the actor and Manikandan whose earlier films including the National Award-winning ‘Kaaka Muttai’ showed his strong grip over telling realistic and intense stories.
Manikandan steps into action genre for the first time
‘Kaattaan’ is touted as a rural action drama and series marks an important shift in Manikandan’s directorial journey. After years of grounding his storytelling in stark social realism he now steps into a zone which is very different from his usual narrative style that used to be emotional dramas.
OTT platform and release date confirmed
The team behind ‘Kaattaan’ has confirmed that the series will begin streaming on March 27. It will premiere on JioHotstar. The project will be available in multiple languages. The streaming platform is expected to unveil character posters and a new teaser soon.
‘Gandhi Talks’ begins OTT journey
Another Vijay Sethupathi project is making waves online. The silent film ‘Gandhi Talks’ directed by Marathi filmmaker Kishor Pandurang Belekar has officially arrived on streaming platforms. The film, known for its unique storytelling format that relies on expressions and physical actions instead of dialogue, was released in 2026.The title is currently rentable on Prime Video for a limited-time rental fee. It will premiere for free on ZEE5 starting March 6. The project features a strong cast, including Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav. The score is composed by Academy Award-winning music director AR Rahman. Due to it’s unconventional theme and narrative structure, ‘Gandhi Talks’ failed to do any magic at the box office as expected. The film may get much more viewers after it’s OTT release.
