Abhay Verma and Shanaya Kapoor’s comedy Jacob Cardoso, announced last March, nears release, confirms producer Vikesh Bhutani. Set in 1987 Goa, directed by Shujaat Saudagar, it wrapped shooting in two months.

Abhay Verma and Shanaya Kapoor’s comedy film, announced last March, is nearing its cinema release. Now, producer Vikesh Bhutani has revealed its official title, heightening the buzz for fans.

‘Jacob Cardoso’ official confirmation

According to Mid-day, Vikesh Bhutani confirmed, “’Jacob Cardoso’ is its full title”. Shujaat Saudagar directs this comedy, which takes place in 1987. Bhutani further shared, “It’s a beautiful film set in Goa, around the time when it was becoming a state. It’s a period caper.”Filming for ‘Jacob Cardoso’ kicked off in March 2025 and concluded in just two months. This marks Shanaya Kapoor’s second outing this year, after ‘Tu Yaa Main’, with Abhay Verma also gearing up for ‘Laikey Laikaa’. As Vikesh Bhutani and co-producer Shujaat Saudagar finalize it for a later 2026 release, Bhutani shared that by the first week of March, they may announce the release.

‘Jacob Cardoso’ director’s past work

The director earlier directed Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Rock On 2’ (2016) and the web series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ (2023).

Shanaya Kapoor’s recent hit

Shanaya Kapoor recently starred opposite Adarsh Gourav in ‘Tu Yaa Main’, which has created excitement thanks to its fresh plot and strong acting. Fans loved the spark between the two leads and the thrilling story. The movie tells of two content creators whose fun adventure becomes a scary fight to survive. The cast also features Parul Gulati, Amruta Khanvilkar, Kshitee Jog, Tanishq Shelare, Shrikant Yadav, and Rajendra Gupta. It’s a remake of the 2018 Thai film ‘The Pool’.

Abhay Verma’s debut

Meanwhile, Abhay made his Bollywood debut in 2024 with the horror-comedy, ‘Munjya’.
