BAFTA 2026: Farhan Akhtar makes red carpet debut with Shibani Dandekar as 'Boong' competes for Best Children's and Family Film

Adding Indian representation at the ongoing 79th British Academy of Film And Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards in London, Bollywood star couple Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar made a surprise appearance at the event on Sunday evening. The couple made their debut at the awards show, dressed to the nines as they walked the red carpet hand-in-hand. For the event, the actor looked dashing in a black tuxedo, while Shibani opted for a golden satin gown. In an image posted on Instagram by Diet Sabya, Farhan was seen holding Shibani by the waist as they posed for the cameras. ‘Boong’ nominated for BAFTAAkhtar’s Excel Entertainment backed the film ‘Boong’, directed by debutant Lakshmipriya Devi, which is competing for an award in the Best Children’s & Family Film category. Farhan Akhtar cast in ‘The Beatles’Fans can expect to see a lot more of Farhan in the UK with his casting in Sam Mendes’ ‘The Beatles’. The actor is set to debut in Hollywood, with his role as Indian music maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. For the upcoming film series, structured as four interconnected biopics, will see Akhtar will step into the role of Pandit Ravi Shankar, who had great influence on The Beatles. His close friendship with guitarist George Harrison, reportedly played a pivotal role in introducing Indian classical music to Western pop culture. The project is slated for a global theatrical release in April 2028.Farhan and Shibani celebrate 4 years of marriageOn the personal front, the actor marked his fourth wedding anniversary. In an Instagram post, the couple shared heartfelt messages for each other, expressing their love as they clocked another year of togetherness. Farhan dropped a series of pictures with his wife and wrote, “To the woman who makes everything feel better.. happy fourth anniversary Shu .. love you @shibaniakhtar.”Shibani, on the other hand added, “8 and 4. Happy Anni @faroutakhtar To forever and beyond, Love you endlessly.”Farhan and Shibani tied the knot at in 2022 in the presence of close friends and family members on February 19, 2022.
