‘Assi’ BO day 2: Film reaches Rs 2.60 crore

'Assi' box office collections day 2: Taapsee Pannu film reaches Rs 2.60 crore; Saturday shows mild growth

Taapsee Pannu’s courtroom drama ‘Assi’ saw a modest increase on its second day, collecting an estimated Rs 1.60 crore on Saturday, bringing its two-day total to Rs 2.60 crore. Despite a slow start, the film’s occupancy improved throughout Saturday, hinting at potential growth driven by word-of-mouth.

Taapsee Pannu’s courtroom drama ‘Assi’ continued its modest run at the domestic box office on Day 2. The film had opened with an estimated Rs 1 crore net on Friday.Early estimates from the Sacnilk website for Saturday indicated a collection of around Rs 1.60 crore and this brings the two-day total to Rs 2.60 crore. Directed by Anubhav Sinha the film launched on February 20 and entered theatres with limited momentum.

Saturday occupancy shows decent improvement

‘Assi’ recorded an overall 12.03% occupancy for its Hindi 2D shows on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Morning shows reported only 5.18% occupancy. Afternoon shows improved to 11.28%. Evening shows saw a rise to 13.97%, while night shows peaked at 17.69%.The film features a strong ensemble. Alongside Taapsee Pannu, the cast includes Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Naseeruddin Shah, and Kani Kusruti and the plot revolves around a lawyer who refuses to bow down in her pursuit of justice.

Anubhav Sinha says he will not promote box office figures

Anubhav Sinha recently addressed the subject in a recent interview with the Hindustan Times. He explained why he prefers not to highlight collection figures and why such discussions do not align with his intention as a filmmaker. Anubhav Sinha said the constant tracking of numbers creates unnecessary chatter. “Box office numbers are a thing of good gossip,” he said.He expressed his discomfort with the fixation, using strong language at one point to emphasise how little he relates to the numbers race. The director explained that he does not want the attention around ‘Assi’ to revolve around its commercial performance. Instead he wants viewers to focus on the story, the themes, and the performances.Though ‘Assi’ opened low, Saturday’s moderate improvement indicates that the film may benefit from WOM and may witness more decent numbers in the coming days as well.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from diverse public and industry sources.
