D Devdutt’s book, ‘Ajit Doval – On a Mission‘, reveals that Pakistan was determined to acquire nuclear weapons by any means necessary. India had stunned the world with its first successful nuclear test in 1974, sparking Pakistan’s relentless pursuit of nuclear capabilities, supported by China and North Korea. India needed to uncover this secret, and Ajit Doval, dubbed the Super Cop, was entrusted with the mission.

One day, his attention fell on a small barber shop, frequented daily by scientists of the Khan Research Centre. The book mentioned that Doval sat outside like any other beggar, but his true focus was on the strands of hair scattered across the floor inside.
