Talking about the matter, she confirmed that the song is indeed about her sister, Haylie Duff. She stated during the interview, “Yeah, it is. It’s definitely about my sister, and just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment.” The star also teared up a little while talking about her estranged sister and how the two of them are not really connected with one another anymore. The popstar further shared that it was a journey creating the song, and a lot of thought went into including it in ‘Luck… or Something.’ “So many people are having this experience. It’s hard because I’m me, and people know everything about my life since I was a child, you know? And I didn’t necessarily choose that part, but it’s my reality, and so it was honestly healing to say,” she stated, citing that the song was her truth.
