‘Couple Friendly’ BO day 6: Film crosses Rs 4 crores

'Couple Friendly' box office collections day 6: Manasa Varanasi film crosses Rs 4 crores

‘Couple Friendly’ has garnered over Rs 4.86 crore in its opening week, showing steady performance despite slight weekday dips. The film, starring Manasa Varanasi and Santosh Sobhan, transitions from a light romance to an emotional drama in its second half, exploring themes of love and illness. While initially charming, the narrative shifts to a more predictable, melodramatic tone.

‘Couple Friendly’ has completed six days at the box office and crossed the Rs 4 crore mark. The film which is led by Manasa Varanasi and Santosh Sobhan, earned an estimated Rs 4.86 crore India net in its first week.According to data from Sacnilk, the film held reasonably well through weekdays even as collections dipped slightly on Wednesday and Thursday.

Day-wise breakdown

By the end of Day 6 the film’s Week 1 total reached Rs 4.86 crore with Tamil contributing Rs 48 lakhs and Telugu contributing Rs 4.38 crore. The film will likely closing its first week near the Rs 5 crore mark.

A soft romance turns emotional

Directed by Ashwin Chandrasekar the film stars Yogi Babu, Rajeev Kanakala, and Livingston in important roles. The story follows Shiva, an interior designer from Nellore who reaches Chennai with big dreams. But his plans collapse, forcing him to work as a bike-taxi driver. His life changes when he meets Mithra, an IT graduate searching desperately for a job.

ETimes verdict

However, the tone shifts dramatically in the second half. As noted in the ETimes review, “the narrative takes a sharp turn in the second half when Mithra is diagnosed with a terminal illness.”The review adds that “while this twist aims to intensify the emotional depth, the treatment veers into melodrama, at times resembling the overly sentimental tone.”It further states, “The pacing dips noticeably, and the family drama surrounding her condition unfolds in a predictable, formulaic manner.”The concluding view expresses that, “What started as a refreshing slice-of-life romance slowly drifts into familiar and conventional territory, losing much of its earlier charm.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from diverse public and industry sources.
