A suspicious Jammu & Kashmir-registered Santro car was found parked behind the Red Fort in Delhi during routine night patrolling on February 18. Finding the vehicle stationary for an unusually long time, police questioned the occupants. One of them, identified as Mudassir Ahmad Mir (36) from Pulwama, produced an identity card claiming he was associated with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). However, officers quickly noticed discrepancies and suspected the ID to be fake. Both individuals were taken to Kotwali Police Station for detailed questioning. Investigations revealed that Mudassir allegedly ran a garage in Pulwama that was incurring losses. To earn money, he reportedly targeted financially weak families by promising government or private jobs in Delhi. He allegedly collected advance payments from victims. The second occupant, a 16-year-old minor, was found to be a victim who had been brought to Delhi on the promise of employment. Authorities are now investigating how many people may have been duped and whether others were involved in the alleged fraud.
