Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the revered Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati during her two-day tour of Assam. She offered prayers and performed rituals at the temple with proper Vedic procedures, as priests conducted the ceremony with chanting of mantras. Visuals from the temple premises show her seeking blessings amid a traditional religious atmosphere. Several Congress leaders from the state were also present during the visit. The visit comes at a crucial time, as Assam is heading toward Assembly elections. Political activity in the state has intensified, with both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress campaigning vigorously. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been strongly critical of the Congress and the Gandhi family in recent rallies. In this context, Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to the Kamakhya Temple is being viewed as both a spiritual gesture and a politically significant move. Along with offering prayers, she is also scheduled to meet Congress leaders and party workers to discuss strategy and strengthen the party’s organization ahead of the elections.
