Pravina Deshpande passes away at 60 after battling cancer

Veteran actress Pravina Deshpande passed away on Tuesday (February 17) after a long battle with cancer. She was 60. The news of her demise was confirmed by her family through a note shared on her official Instagram account.“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Mrs Pravina Deshpande has left for her heavenly abode on 17th February 2026. Cremation will be held on 17th February at 3:00 pm. Location: Hindu Crematorium, Chakala Parsiwada, Andheri East,” read the statement, signed by Aniruddha, Abhimanyu, Ruchira and Veer Deshpande. Her last rites were conducted the same day in Mumbai. The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) also mourned her passing in a post on X, expressing condolences and noting that she had been a member since 2008. Pravina Deshpande had a long and diverse career spanning Hindi and Marathi films, television, theatre and web series. Known for her strong supporting roles and impactful screen presence, she featured in films such as Ready starring Salman Khan, Ek Villain starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran alongside John Abraham. Over the years, she carved a niche for herself with performances that balanced emotional depth and quiet strength. On television, she became a familiar face in popular shows like Ghar Ek Mandir, Kumkum, Karam Apnaa Apnaa and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. Her work extended beyond daily soaps to theatre productions and digital projects, reflecting her adaptability as a performer.Her final screen appearance was in the web series Taskaree, which starred Emraan Hashmi.
