Sunny Deol is gearing up for his next venture titled ‘Gabru’, which he announced on October 19. According to Variety India, Sunny’s ‘Gabru’ is now slated to hit theatres on May 8. The film was earlier planned for a March 13 release. With this updated date, ‘Gabru’ successfully steers clear of a box office clash with Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ and Yash’s ‘Toxic’, both arriving on March 19.

‘Gabru’ explores courage and resilience

As reported by OTTPlay, ‘Gabru’ reflects themes of courage, identity, and resilience, elements that have always defined his cinematic journey. The makers are adopting a carefully curated release strategy to honor the film’s intimate narrative and strong emotional core, ensuring it connects meaningfully with audiences. Featuring Sunny with Simran and Prit Kamani, ‘Gabru’ includes a soulful music album composed by Mithoon, with lyrics penned by Sayeed Quadri, Satinder Sartaj, and Anurag Saikya.

Sunny Deol’s ‘Gabru’ features a cameo by Salman Khan

Earlier, Bollywood Hungama reported that Salman Khan has a special cameo appearance in ‘Gabru’. There was a requirement of a star and the makers knew that Salman fit the bill completely. Khan was approached and he loved the part and its contribution to the film. He quietly shot the film more than a year ago and it has shaped up well.

Sunny Deol’s upcoming projects after ‘Gabru’

On the work front, Sunny Deol was last seen in ‘Border 2’, which has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. Besides ‘Gabru’, he will also appear in ‘Lahore 1947’, slated for release on August 13, 2026. The film features an impressive cast including Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Mithun Chakraborty, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol, and is produced by Aamir Khan.
