AR Rahman announces digital detox to focus on ‘Ramayana’ event

AR Rahman stunned fans at his Chennai concert, announcing a 40-day digital detox to focus on Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’. The break targets the March 2026 cast event starring Ranbir Kapoor (Ram), Sai Pallavi (Sita), Yash (Raavan), Sunny Deol (Hanuman). Two-part Diwali release ahead; more projects like ‘Moon Walk’ loom.

A.R. Rahman stunned fans with a surprise announcement from the stage of his Chennai concert, vowing to embark on a 40-day digital detox. This bold move signals his intent to step back from social media and digital distractions for deeper creative focus. Fans worldwide are buzzing about the Oscar-winning composer’s unexpected decision.

AR Rahman’s shock concert vow

According to Bollywood Hungama, the break is meant to give the composer the breathing space to complete his work on the ambitious ‘Ramayana’ project. There is a major event for Namit Malhotra-Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ coming up in March 2026 in which all the actors and technicians of the film will be announced to the public. Rahman needs to complete his work before that event. He will be working at a more rapid pace than usual to meet the deadline.

‘Ramayana’ epic cast

Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ boasts Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. This grand saga arrives in two installments, starting with the first during this year’s Diwali.

AR Rahman’s busy pipeline

Apart from ‘Ramayana’, A.R. Rahman has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including a reunion with Prabhu Deva on ‘Moon Walk’ after years apart, alongside ‘Peddi’ and others awaiting release.
