Cavill and Bautista crash cars in Highlander

'Highlander' reboot set video: Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista crash into cars in wild fight scene

Fresh ‘Highlander’ footage has fans buzzing, featuring an intense clash between Connor MacLeod, played by Henry Cavill, and Bautista’s Kurgan, complete with dramatic car collisions. Director Chad Stahelski emphasizes a renewed yet respectful approach to the iconic story, aiming for a thrilling action ride that resonates with original fans.

New footage from the set of ‘Highlander’ has surfaced, and it captures a violent moment between Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod and Dave Bautista’s Kurgan. The clip shows both men crashing down onto parked cars from far above, hinting that a major fight scene is unfolding between the immortal rivals.

‘Highlander’ reboot fight scene details

As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Bautista appears to be holding only the hilt of his weapon. Visual effects will add the blade later. Still, the fall makes it clear that the duel has already reached a brutal stage. The franchise has always centered on a simple rule. In the end, there can be only one. The 1986 original followed MacLeod and the Kurgan as they tried to take each other’s power. Fans expect the new take to keep that core idea.Director Chad Stahelski has promised respect for what came before while pushing the action further. Bautista spoke about that approach last year.“Clancy Brown was in his 20s when he was the Kurgan. I’m in my 50s. I hope I can do the world justice,” he said. “It’s written very differently. But still with, like, such a huge nod, a lot of respect to the original. Chad Stahelski didn’t want to go against the grain and make it something completely different.”

Dave Bautista on honoring the original

Bautista added that the characters must rise to match the scale of the set pieces.“He wanted to keep it true to the characters, but elevate a bit, move it into current filmmaking standards, because we’re always kind of raising the bar,” the actor explained. “The characters need to go with the action in this film, and the action is super hyper elevated. It’s what ‘John Wick’ did to the gun work on films.”Michael Finch wrote the script. The cast also includes Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, Siobhán Cullen, and Drew McIntyre. Production is now underway. The movie is expected to be released in theaters in 2027.
