Budget 2026–27: UP Government Presents ₹9.12 Lakh Crore Growth-Oriented Budget

Presenting the Budget for 2026–27, the Uttar Pradesh government highlighted comprehensive development across sectors during its previous and current terms. The state’s GSDP for 2024–25 is estimated at ₹30.25 lakh crore, reflecting a 13.4% growth rate. Per capita income has more than doubled from ₹54,564 in 2016–17 to an estimated ₹1,09,844, projected to reach ₹1,20,000 in 2025–26. Nearly 6 crore people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty, and unemployment has declined to 2.24%. The total budget outlay stands at ₹9,12,696.35 crore, about 12.9% higher than last year. Capital expenditure accounts for 19.5% of the budget. Allocations include 12.4% for education, 6% for health, and 9% for agriculture and allied services. The fiscal deficit is capped at 3%, with a target to reduce the debt-to-GSDP ratio to 23.1% in 2026–27. Major initiatives include expansion in infrastructure, AI and emerging technology missions, solar energy projects (2,815 MW installed), skill development, women empowerment schemes, farmer support (including increased sugarcane prices), and employment generation. The government emphasized improvements in law and order, industrial investment, startup growth, and agricultural productivity, positioning the budget as a roadmap for sustained economic growth and social welfare.
