Heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc across several states in India, triggering floods, landslides, and fatal accidents. In Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur, floodwaters submerged roads, and even NDRF teams faced challenges—one rescue tractor overturned in a deep pothole. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. In Pratapgarh, a pickup van carrying illegal narcotics plunged 100 feet into a well while fleeing from police. A 20-hour rescue operation followed, but the driver and cleaner remain missing. Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district also suffered heavy floods. The raging Sahar Khad river broke a bridge pillar, forcing authorities to block the bridge. Locals blamed poor maintenance for the collapse. Meanwhile, in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, a massive landslide near Yamunotri Highway led to road closures, stranding commuters as boulders blocked the path. In Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone, a school tempo carrying 15 children got stuck in a flooded road. Bystanders rescued the children safely. In a separate incident, a cyclist was nearly swept away by strong water currents. Tragedy struck Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, where a pickup truck lost control while avoiding a biker, running over bystanders. A PRD jawan died on the spot, and three others were seriously injured. These incidents highlight the urgent need for disaster preparedness and infrastructure maintenance.
