RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat: “Our Work is for Values, Not Publicity” at 100-Year Celebration

Mumbai hosted a grand celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), attended by prominent personalities, including film stars like Salman Khan. At the event, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke about the organization’s philosophy and personal principles. Emphasizing the importance of service over self-promotion, Bhagwat stated, “Our work is about spreading values, not publicity. Actions matter more than the individual.” He reflected on the tradition of retiring at 75, revealing that although he had reached that age, leadership transitions within the RSS depend on the collective decision of volunteers. “Whether a position is held or not, as long as the body functions, the work continues,” he said. Bhagwat cautioned against the perils of fame, saying excessive publicity can lead to ego, and stressed that efforts should focus on the cause rather than personal recognition. The event, attended by around 1,200 invitees, celebrated a century of the RSS’s social and cultural initiatives while highlighting the ethos of discipline, humility, and lifelong service. Bhagwat’s remarks underscored a vision of work rooted in values and responsibility, rather than personal glory, setting the tone for the organization’s future direction.
