‘War 2’ picks up pace at box office; crosses Rs 214 crore mark

'War 2' box office collection Day 10: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer picks up pace on Saturday; Collections cross Rs 214 crore mark

Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani’s ‘War 2’ witnessed a slight recovery on its second Saturday, but the film continues to struggle to match its explosive start and the competition from Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’. As per early estimates on sacnilk, the action thriller collected around Rs 6.25 crore on Day 10, taking its India net total to approximately Rs 214.5 crore.

Week 2 at the ticket windows

The sequel kicked off with a spectacular Rs 57.85 crore debut, raising expectations of record-breaking numbers. However, the buzz quickly faded after the first extended Independence Day weekend. Going by trade reports, the film saw its collections slip to an estimated Rs 5 crore on Thursday and fell further to Rs 4 crore on Friday. At a time with trade gurus suspected a steep decline in the film’s momentum, it picked up its pace at the box office on its second Saturday.

Theatre occupancy

According to the report, the film’s performance showed only marginal improvement, with the overall Hindi occupancy rising to an estimated 17.90%. Morning shows clocked in at a sluggish 8.85%, with night shows rising to 25.72%, but still reflecting muted audience enthusiasm compared to its launch.

Box office collections

‘War 2’ box office run has been uneven across markets. The Hindi version has led the charge with Rs 159.1 crore, while the Telugu market, boosted significantly by Jr NTR’s massive fan following, contributed Rs 53.55 crore. In contrast, the Tamil version added only Rs 1.8 crore, reflecting a limited response. Though the film crossed the Rs 200 crore milestone in just over a week, the sharp disparity in box office collections across regions has depicted how the Spy Universe sequel has struggled to match the huge figures the film minted in its first week of its release.

Worldwide box office collections

The Ayan Mukerji directorial is putting up a good fight at the ticket windows, collecting Rs 248.65 crore gross from the Indian market so far. Overseas performance has added another Rs 71.35 crore to its tally, pushing the global box office total to an impressive Rs 320 crore gross.Despite the big numbers, the film isn’t out of the woods financially. Mounted on a staggering Rs 400 crore budget, the highest ever for YRF’s Spy Universe, the action spectacle still needs a substantial boost in the coming weeks before it can turn a true profit.

Competition from Coolie

According to early reports, Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ has been maintaining its lead at the box office, earning around Rs 10 crore on its second Saturday, taking the film’s total collection to Rs 245.50 crore. The film saw a good weekend growth, suggesting that the film will maintain its momentum well into the coming days.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
