Surajkund Funfair Ride Collapse: New Footage Raises Safety Questions

A newly released video from the Surajkund Funfair in Faridabad reveals the harrowing moments after a ride carrying 26 people collapsed. The footage shows one end of the ride suspended 2–3 feet above the ground while the other end was elevated, creating a deadly imbalance. Within moments, the second end also gave way, causing multiple people to be trapped and injured. Inspector Jagdish Prasad, present on-site and attempting to rescue visitors, was struck during the rescue effort and tragically lost his life. Eyewitnesses and footage highlight the chaos and panic as fairgoers, local vendors, and police personnel rushed to save people from the falling ride. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety protocols at public fairs, including ride certification and administrative oversight. In a controversial response, the Haryana Tourism Minister suggested that the accident could have been averted by divine intervention, prompting widespread criticism and renewed calls for accountability. Authorities have confirmed that injured individuals are receiving full medical support, and an investigation has been launched to determine the lapses that led to this preventable tragedy. The video underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of amusement park safety regulations to prevent similar disasters in the future.
