In a major political development from Bihar, independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, was arrested late at night by a Patna Police team in connection with a 31-year-old case. The police action led to a high-voltage drama as Pappu Yadav’s supporters protested strongly, resulting in prolonged arguments and chaos outside his residence. After several hours, the police took him into custody and conducted his medical examination. Following complaints of deteriorating health, Pappu Yadav was first taken to IGIMS for a medical check-up and later shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where he is currently admitted in the emergency ward. Doctors have confirmed that his treatment is ongoing and further medical opinions are awaited. Pappu Yadav has alleged that his arrest is part of a conspiracy to eliminate him politically. He claimed that he is being targeted for raising his voice in the Jehanabad NEET aspirant death case, which he has termed a rape and murder case, accusing the police of shielding the real culprits. The case dates back to 1995 and was registered at Gardanibagh police station. A complaint alleged that Pappu Yadav and his associates fraudulently rented a house and later used it as an office. The MP-MLA court had issued attachment and seizure orders three days ago, citing repeated absence from court proceedings. Police officials stated that arrest warrants and proclamations had already been issued. Once his health stabilises, Pappu Yadav will be produced before the MP-MLA court. His aides have indicated that a bail application will be filed. Meanwhile, a heavy police presence remains at PMCH as supporters continue to express concern over his safety.
