Ssunita says she married Govinda because of Dharmendra

Ssunita Ahuja credits Dharmendra for influencing her choice to marry Govinda: 'I married him because...'

Ssunita Ahuja disclosed that Dharmendra, her teenage crush, influenced her decision to marry Govinda, as he reminded her of the superstar, both being Punjabi. She even confessed her feelings to Dharmendra himself. Despite recent divorce rumors, Govinda’s manager clarified that the matter is old and currently being resolved, with an official update anticipated soon.

Ssunita Ahuja recently shared how Bollywood superstar Dharmendra played a key role in her decision to marry veteran actor Govinda. In a viral interview, she revealed that her teenage crush on Dharmendra inspired her choice in a life partner.

Govinda reminded her of Dharmendra

In conversation with Eat Travel Repeat, Ssunita revealed that Dharmendra was her teenage crush and that she didn’t like anyone else at the time. She shared that her fondness for Shah Rukh Khan came later, but back then, she married Govinda because he reminded her of Dharmendra, noting that both actors are Punjabi.

Admiration shaped her decision

The star wife also recalled that she had once shared her feelings with Dharmendra, admitting that part of the reason she married Govinda was because he reminded her of the superstar. She further revealed that watching Govinda portray a role inspired by Dharmendra in the film Sandwich convinced her that he was the right choice for marriage.

Divorce rumors dismissed

Recently, a Hautterfly report stated that Sunita Ahuja had filed for divorce in the Family Court of Bandra, Mumbai. The report further stated that the duo is currently in mandatory counseling for six months. However, according to NDTV, the actor’s lawyer stated that it was an old matter and things have been sorted out between the couple. However, the actor’s manager has dismissed it as ‘old news,’ insisting the couple is not separating. According to Shashi Sinha, Govinda’s manager, the divorce petition was filed six to seven months ago and the matter is now being resolved, with an official update expected soon.
