Breaking News: Missing Children Crisis Raised in Rajya Sabha, AAP MP Flags Shocking Data

In the Rajya Sabha today, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sandeep Pathak raised serious concerns over the alarming rise in missing children cases in Delhi and across India. Citing RTI data from Delhi Police, he claimed that around 6,000 children went missing in Delhi in 2024 alone, a figure that has remained consistently high over the years. According to him, nearly 72% of these missing children are girls, and about 40–50% belong to the minor age group. This translates to an average of 17 children going missing every day in Delhi, or one child every 1.5 hours. Referring to NCRB data, Pathak said that in 2022, over 83,000 children went missing nationwide, with girls forming the majority. He highlighted that, at the national level, nearly seven children go missing every hour—roughly one every eight minutes. He further pointed out that Delhi, despite being the national capital, has emerged as a hub for missing persons cases. In just the first 27 days of this year, 807 people went missing in Delhi, including 137 children, of whom 120 are girls. He urged the government to take urgent cognizance of the issue.
