Breaking News: India–US Trade Deal Safeguards Farmers, No Threat to Agriculture: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured that the India–US trade deal poses no risk to Indian farmers and fully protects the country’s agricultural interests. Speaking exclusively to ABP News, Chouhan dismissed opposition claims and said farmers need not worry, as every aspect of the agreement has been negotiated keeping national interest at the core. He emphasized that India’s key sectors such as food grains, dairy products, millets, fruits, and textiles remain completely safeguarded, with no forced market opening for foreign agricultural goods. According to the minister, reduced tariffs under the deal will instead boost Indian exports, particularly rice, basmati, spices, cotton, and textile products, directly benefiting farmers and rural livelihoods. He highlighted that India had already exported rice worth ₹63,000 crore earlier and expects exports to grow further after the agreement. Chouhan also criticized the opposition for spreading misinformation and disrupting Parliament, stating that the commerce minister was not allowed to present facts in the House. He termed the trade deal an example of diplomacy, development, and dignity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting it will strengthen India’s journey toward a self-reliant and developed economy while ensuring farmers’ welfare remains untouched.
