Ahead of the 2027 assembly elections in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jalandhar, Punjab, signaling the start of BJP’s early political preparations. His visit was marked by religious and political significance. Modi first visited the Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Temple, where he performed formal worship (Darshan-Poojan), participated in Kirtan and Gurbani, and addressed devotees in Punjabi, emphasizing cultural and religious outreach. During his visit, PM Modi announced the renaming of Adampur Airport as Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport, officially honoring the revered saint and reinforcing BJP’s connect with local communities and religious sentiments. Later, he visited Dera Sachkhand and sought blessings by touching the feet of Sant Niranjan Das, further underlining the religious aspect of his visit. This visit is politically significant because BJP is currently out of power in Punjab, and the 2027 elections provide an opportunity to strengthen its presence. By engaging with religious leaders, inaugurating landmarks, and addressing the public, PM Modi aims to set the stage for BJP’s electoral campaign and consolidate voter support ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls.
