‘Golden’ becomes first ever K-Pop song to win Grammy

Grammy Awards 2026: 'KPop Demon Hunters' creates HISTORY; 'Golden' becomes first ever K-Pop song to win award

There’s just no stopping ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ this awards season. The animated film’s hit soundtrack, ‘Golden’, which has been sweeping up all top honours with its Golden Globe and Critics Choice wins, added a Grammy Award to its shelf. At the 68th annual Grammy Awards, taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the original soundtrack from ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ became the first-ever K-Pop song to win a Grammy. Performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, ‘Golden’ won the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media during the pre-telecast ceremony.

‘Golden’ team accepts Grammy Award

Accepting the honour, the song’s writers EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, DO, 24 and Teddy, took to the big stage to deliver an acceptance speech in both English and Korean. ‘Golden’ beat the likes of ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ by Nine Inch Nails, ‘I Lied to You’ by Miles Caton, ;Never Too Late’ by Elton John and Brandi Carlile, ‘Pale, Pale Moon’ by Jayme Lawson, and ‘Sinners’ by Leonard Denisenko, Rodarius Green and Travis.

‘Golden’ up for Song of the Year

‘Golden’ entered the Grammy Awards 2026 with four nominations. The track is also contending for the top honour – Song of the Year, which will be announced during the main televised ceremony. EJAE, also made history as the first Korean-American female songwriter to be nominated for Song of the Year. ‘Golden’ was also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Remixed Recording, though it did not win in those categories.

The win adds a page to the Grammy history books. While artists such as BTS have received five nominations over the years without a win, and Blackpink’s Rose earned three nominations, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year, for ‘APT’ with Bruno Mars, ‘Golden’ beat the track to snag the genre’s first Grammy-winning song.

‘Golden’ eyes Oscar win

Beyond the Grammys, ‘Golden’ is also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The track is currently the frontrunner to end awards season on a high with an Oscar win. Go to Source
