Bahrain successfully completes nationwide emergency alert system test

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior successfully completed a nationwide Emergency Alert System test on Saturday

Bahrain successfully carried out a nationwide test of its Emergency Alert System on Saturday night, with mobile phones and smart devices across the country receiving alerts as part of a planned trial to strengthen public safety preparedness. The test was conducted at 9:30 pm by the Ministry of Interior and covered all mobile phones and smart devices in Bahrain. Authorities said the exercise was aimed at confirming the system’s readiness and ensuring that emergency notifications can be delivered effectively to the public during critical situations. The ministry had announced the trial in advance, explaining that the test was designed to assess how quickly and reliably alerts reach citizens and residents in real time.

Budget 2026

The nationwide nature of the operation allowed officials to evaluate system performance across different networks and devices simultaneously. As part of the preparations, the ministry advised users of iOS-powered devices to update their phones to at least version 26.2. Officials explained that this update is essential to guarantee the timely and complete receipt of emergency alerts, noting that outdated software could affect how messages are delivered during actual emergencies. The ministry also clarified that Android users did not need to take any action, as their devices are already compatible with the Emergency Alert System and capable of receiving alerts without additional updates. The successful completion of Saturday’s test forms part of ongoing efforts to improve emergency response mechanisms in Bahrain and to ensure that vital information can reach the public swiftly and reliably when it is most needed.
