Precision of appearance, strict personal habits and a penchant for cleanliness set Ajit Pawar apart from his contemporaries. He was a workaholic whose personality, beyond politics, stood out for his discipline and exacting preferences. The NCP chief was known to be choosy about what he wore — especially sunglasses. The brands varied from the Maybach collection to Ray Ban. He was picky about watches and clothes. He changed his look according to the occasion. While he would don safari suits during assembly sessions, he turned formal when he visited Delhi to meet the PM. Waking up at dawn was what Pawars had been taught, Ajit said in an interview. “The word lazy is missing from our dictionary. We don’t believe in afternoon naps,” he added.
