Popular streamer Dr Disrespect, real name Guy Beahm, recently caused a stir on social media after posting a tweet showing a supposed Highguard event badge. The tweet jokingly referenced a trip to Los Angeles to “check out” the game, alongside a message teasing the game’s release on January 26, 2026. Fans quickly speculated whether he had actually attended an official preview or if the badge was real, with some suggesting it may have been AI-generated. The post gained widespread attention online, prompting questions about the streamer’s involvement with the game ahead of its release.The controversy drew responses from both fans and critics, with many taking the tweet seriously. Dr Disrespect later clarified the situation, explaining on a live stream that the post was meant as a joke and that he never attended the Highguard preview event. Known for his high-energy persona and over-the-top style, Dr Disrespect acknowledged that some viewers had misunderstood his intentions, which sparked the online debate.
Dr Disrespect clarifies Highguard tweet and fake badge controversy
During a stream, Dr Disrespect addressed the incident directly, saying, “Last week we took the Lambo to LA to check out #HighGuard. That’s all we said. Did we say we went to the event? Did we say we got hands-on? Did I say I was going to give you my review and feedback today? Huh? Did we say we were going to give our feedback and review today? ‘We got hands-on Highguard.’ Did I say that? No. We just put together a photo poking fun. All these f***ing people took it seriously.” The developer of Highguard, Wildlight Entertainment, also confirmed that Dr Disrespect had not been invited to any official event. Chin Pua, creator manager at Wildlight, stated on X, “I can confirm DDR was not invited to any Highguard event past or present. The badge was not an official badge.” Despite the confusion, Dr Disrespect laughed off the social media reaction, defending his brand and stressing that his persona remains relevant. He returned to YouTube in September 2024 after a brief demonetization and suspension from the YouTube Partner Program. The streamer emphasized that the tweet was meant purely for entertainment and that he had no intention of misleading his audience.While the fake badge tweet caused temporary controversy, the incident ultimately showcased Dr Disrespect’s signature humor and ability to engage fans, proving that even a joke can go viral in today’s streaming world.
