‘Absolutely pathetic’: Indian-American group says H-1B visa stamping delay is ‘100% targeting’ of those who were already vetted

'Absolutely pathetic': Indian-American group says H-1B visa stamping delay is '100% targeting' of those who were already vetted

As H-1B visa stamping dates are now deferred to 2027 in India, the Indian-American Advocacy Council co-founder Rajeev Sharma said this is 100% targering of Indian-Americans who have won their right to work in the US legally and have been contributing to the US economy. Contrasting the H-1B workers from India, whose visa stamping is getting delayed, with the OnlyFans creators gaining entry to the US on O-1 visas, Sharma said the situation is pathetic. “And @POTUS and @JDVance are trading H-1B Indians for OnlyFans models on visas instead. Absolutely pathetic. Qatar and Pakistan really have these two by their hijabs. If they had kept it above board, they would’ve stuck to what was agreed upon back in September, but soft Islamism has crept into this clown administration,” Sharma added. The H-1B overhaul which the Trump administration intended started with the $100k visa fee. “3 months later, surprise visa stamping delays until March 2026 at US consulates in India while people squeezed in a vacation before heading back in January,” Sharma wrote. “Now? Visa stamping delayed until 2027! This is 100% targeting Indian Americans who have already been vetted and done the work of coming here legally to contribute to the US economy. These constantly moving goal posts will ensure job losses for many Indian Americans who trusted this government,” the post read.

What is the present H-1B situation?

  • Since December 15, 2025, the State Department began social media vetting of H-1B applicants and their dependents who come to the US on H-4 visa.
  • Interview dates started getting deferred as consular offices could not process the same number of applications as before after the screening process included going through the social media accounts of the applicants.
  • People who had their interviews in December got the first blow when they were informed that their stamping interview got deferred to April 2026.
  • The rescheduling took place at a random order with some H-1B applicants giving their interviews in India in December only.
  • In January, many applicants received notification that their interview dates had been deferred to 2027.

What is H-1B visa stamping? What is its importance?

H-1B visa stamping is getting the H-1B visa sticker placed in your passport by an embassy or consulate outside the US. It is needed to enter the US. Many H-1B visa holders traveled to India to get the stamping done as their stamping was about to expire. But now they can’t come back to the US without a fresh stamping and have to wait for months to get that. ā
