Describing the award as a responsibility rather than just a recognition, the actor assured that he would uphold its values. “I consider this not just an award, but a responsibility. I promise to carry this honour with dignity, sincerity, and a deep sense of commitment to the values it represents,” he wrote, hoping to continue serving with integrity and humility in the years to come. The Padma Awards 2026 were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of Republic Day, honouring individuals across fields such as art, education, sports and public service. A popular name across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema, Madhavan made his Bollywood debut with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein in 2001 and rose to prominence in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam’s Alai Payuthey. He was last seen in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, with its sequel slated to release on March 19, 2026.
