<p> Saturday Night Live’s <span class= Weekend Update brought its signature blend of irreverence and reality this weekend — slamming Immigration and Customs Enforcement just hours after another fatal shooting involving federal immigration agents shook Minneapolis. In a segment that felt part comedy routine, part social commentary, co-host Michael Che commented on ICE and Vice President JD Vance.”I get that ICE agents are people…allegedly…and they have a job to do, but at some point while you’re pepper-spraying old ladies or shooting at a nurse, do you ever stop to ask yourself, ‘Are we *****?'” Michael Che said. The jokes landed against a backdrop of genuine outrage over the killing of a 37-year-old ICU nurse by Border Patrol officers during an ongoing crackdown.

Che also responded to Vice President JD Vance’s commentary on anti-ICE protesters, the Daily Beast reported.“JD Vance criticized protesters confronting ICE officers, saying they should instead write an op-ed or argue about it on social media,” Che explained.Che made the remarks while showing a picture of MAGA protesters storming the Capitol in 2021, adding, “You know, just like these young scholars did on January 6th.”SNL’s previous “Weekend Update” came under heavy scrutiny for its decision to cut a segment about the ICE protests in Minneapolis.
