NEW DELHI: All India Trinamool Congress on Sunday launched a scathing attack against Bharatiya Janata Party after one of its leaders made derogatory remarks against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.In a social media post on X, TMC shared the purported video in which BJP leader Sanjay Das was seen calling Mamata a “witch” and called for his “beheading”“This old witch is ruling West Bengal. She must be beheaded with a kharga (scimitar),” BJP leader Sanjay Das is heard saying in a video. Sanjay Das is the vice-president of the BJP’s Mathurapur unit in Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district.Das made the remarks while addressing party’s ‘Poribortan Sabha’, during which former state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh was also present.BJP leaders, including Das, were also seen handing over a sword to Ghosh in the video.TMC said that BJP leaders feel licensed to descend into outright criminality after Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has “normalised misogyny by catcalling an elected chief minister”.TMC raked up PM Modi’s old remarks and said, ““When the Prime Minister of the country himself normalises misogyny by catcalling an elected Chief Minister with ‘Didi, O Didi,’ it’s no surprise that other BJP leaders feel licensed to descend into outright criminality.” “At BJP’s ‘Poriborton Sabha,’ their vice-president of Mathurapur OD, Sanjay Das, handed a kharga (sword) to Dilip Ghosh, branded our Hon’ble Chairperson a ‘witch’, and openly called for her beheading. A public call for murder against a democratically elected woman chief minister,” it added.
