The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time three nations will share hosting duties for the prestigious tournament. In a symbolic gesture ahead of the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited the White House in Washington D.C. to meet US President Donald Trump and present him with the first ticket to the global football spectacle.

During the meeting held in the Oval Office, Infantino also handed Trump the official FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy. While presenting the trophy, the FIFA President remarked, “It’s for winners only — and since you are a winner, of course you can as well touch it…” He added that the trophy was heavy and noted that the last person to lift it was none other than Lionel Messi, the 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina.
