Prayagraj Protest: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Slams Yogi, Endorses Keshav Maurya

In Prayagraj, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand remains firm on his demands as his protest enters its seventh day at the Magh Mela area. Sitting on a dharna outside his camp, the Shankaracharya has intensified his criticism of the Uttar Pradesh government while continuing his “inspiration journey” focused on the protection of the Ganga and cow welfare. During an interaction with ABP News, Swami Avimukteshwaranand made sharp remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that such leadership should not exist in a democratic setup. He compared the present governance approach to Mughal-era practices, alleging suppression of Sanatan followers and denial of religious rights. He accused the government of arrogance, intolerance, and bulldozer-driven politics. The Shankaracharya openly supported Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, saying Maurya demonstrates sensitivity, understanding of public sentiment, and willingness to correct mistakes. According to him, leadership should be guided by restraint, etiquette, and accountability. He also addressed questions regarding his Shankaracharya status, asserting that he functions as the undisputed Jyotirmath Shankaracharya under an ancient collegium-like tradition, independent of akharas or political influence.
