Breaking News: Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Life Across North India, Roads and Transport Paralyzed

North India is witnessing severe disruption as heavy snowfall blankets Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and parts of Uttarakhand. Roads in major hill stations, including Shimla, Manali, and Gulmarg, have become slippery and treacherous, forcing authorities to close several national highways and local routes. Traffic snarls, vehicle skidding, and multiple minor accidents have been reported across the region. In Shimla’s Nariel and Kufri areas, three trucks collided due to icy roads, although no serious injuries were reported. Residents and local authorities are working together to clear snow-blocked roads, while drivers are being urged to avoid unnecessary travel. In Manali, a car slipped dangerously near a gorge, with the driver narrowly escaping injury. The snowfall has also disrupted electricity and water supply in several remote villages, leaving locals struggling in freezing temperatures. Tourist areas have transformed into winter wonderlands, attracting visitors despite the hazards, further straining transport and emergency services. The Meteorological Department has forecast continued snowfall in higher altitudes, warning that up to 3 feet of snow may accumulate in some areas, prolonging travel disruptions and safety risks.
