Noida techie death: UP government forms SIT to probe drowning incident; report in 5 days

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday formed a three-member special investigative team to probe the death of a 27-year-old techie, who died after his car drowned into a pit in Greater Noida’s Sector 150 area. This came after the victim’s family accused authorities of serious administrative lapses, alleging that prompt action could have prevented his death as he remained trapped in the water for almost two hours.”Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath takes cognisance of the Greater Noida car accident. On the CM’s instructions, a three-member SIT, under the leadership of the ADG, Meerut Zone, has been constituted to investigate the incident. Divisional Commissioner Meerut and the Chief Engineer PWD are also part of the SIT, which will submit its report to the CM in five days,” ANI cited the CMO saying.

Police said the accident took place within the limits of the Knowledge Park Police Station late on the night of January 16–17, when Yuvraj’s car crashed through the edge of a drain at the Sector 150 crossing and plunged into the water.”My son was struggling to save himself. My son was crying out for help, asking people to help him, but most of the crowd was just watching. Some people were making videos,” the victim’s father alleged. “My son struggled for 2 hours to save his life. The officials and staff present were unable to save him. They did not have any divers. There is negligence on the part of the administration in this entire matter,” he added.
