MP: Speeding car mows down labourers; 2 killed, 11 hurt in Jabalpur

NEW DELHI: Two labourers were killed and 11 others sustained injuries after a speeding car ploughed into them in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Sunday, police said.The incident took place around 2 pm near Ekta Chowk, outside Sigma Colony, within the jurisdiction of Barela police station. The victims were taking a lunch break while working on the installation of road divider railings when the car hit them, officials said.Additional superintendent of police Pallavi Shukla told PTI that the driver fled the spot after the accident and a search is underway to trace him.“Efforts are on to nab the absconding car driver. The deceased and the injured persons, who have been admitted to Jabalpur Medical College, hail from Mandla district. One of them is in a critical condition,” Shukla said.Another official said the car involved in the incident was not carrying a registration plate. Police are investigating the case.
