Celina Jaitly makes emotional Army Day Post amid brother's detainment: 'Families serve too, just without medals'

On Army Day, actress Celina Jaitly brought attention to the untold hardships faced by the families of soldiers, sharing her own story of resilience. Her brother, Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, has been held in Abu Dhabi for over a year. Alongside an emotional letter from him, she celebrated his illustrious military service.

Celina Jaitly shared an emotional message on Army Day, dedicating it to her brother Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who she says has been detained in Abu Dhabi for more than a year. In a detailed social media post, the former actor reflected on the unseen sacrifices made by soldiers’ families while also drawing attention to her brother’s continued detention and the legal fight now underway to secure his release.

Celina Jaitly marked Army Day post and family sacrifice

According to reports by ANI, Jaitly marked Army Day by honoring not only soldiers but also their loved ones. She opened her note by writing, “Families serve too, just without medals.” She recalled a personal memory from a visit to her brother’s unit in the valley after he returned from a long mission.“This photo was taken on one of my visits to Bhai’s unit in the valley. He had just returned from a long mission. For this photo, one of the officers who was martyred shortly after this photo on a mission, placed his own para beret on my head,” she wrote. She added that the officer told her, “Ma’am, our families stand behind us & pay an equal price of bravery while we stand at the front.”Jaitly also shared a letter her brother wrote to her in 2000, when he had just entered the armed forces. “Today, I share a letter bhai wrote to me in 2000. I chose this letter because it captures something profound, the mindset of a young boy, newly out of school, already born to serve his country,” she said. She described his early years, noting that he joined the army through technical entry, studied engineering at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering in Mhow, and was “barely 18 plus, playful, trying to hook me up too, yet already carrying responsibility & purpose.”

Celina Jaitly talks about detention case and legal developments

Jaitly said her brother is a fourth generation soldier and detailed his service with 3 Para SF, his Chief of Army Staff’s Commendation Card, and his role in UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon. “This letter reminds me that a soldier is forged long before the uniform, long before the medal, & long before the battlefield,” she wrote. Her brother, Major Retd. Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, has been detained in Abu Dhabi since September last year. Jaitly has alleged he was abducted and held without proper legal or medical access. The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the central government and asked it to file a status report within four weeks. The court also ordered the appointment of a nodal officer.Speaking to ANI, her counsel Raghav Kacker said, “A nodal officer has been appointed to help the petitioner and her brother communicate, to give him effective legal assistance, to keep us updated on the case status.” He added that details around the detention remain unclear.
